3 weeks

Hazel was 3 weeks old yesterday! Time is flying as I knew it would...

I love taking pictures while she's sleeping because she looks so peaceful.

But I also like capturing the funny faces she makes when she's awake!

And quite possibly my favorite thing is taking pictures of my two sweet girls together.  Emery adores her little sister!

I took some selfies with each girl this week.  Since I'm alone with the girls most of the time, I have to make sure I get in the pictures too!

I also did a little side-by-side comparison of Emery and Hazel around the same age.  They are definitely related!

Hazel is NOT a fan of bath time, but she does like being wrapped up in a towel after bath.

And thanks to a good friend who is letting me borrow some baby gear, we tried out a sling this week.  As you can see, Hazel gives it two thumbs up.

And of course, here are a few pictures of my big girl from this week.

Emery's school is celebrating the last 10 days of school with theme days.  Thursday was crazy hat day.

And we pulled out last year's 4th of July dress for a little Memorial Day patriotism.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Hazel's Newborn Portraits

One of the best decisions I made as a first-time mom in a sleep-deprived haze, was to contact a photographer to take newborn portraits of Emery when she was 5 days old.  We cherish those portraits, and we were so happy to have the same photographer (Kasey Marsh of Monkey Tree Photography) take Hazel's newborn portraits (also at 5 days old).

Here are a few that she shared on her Facebook page:

2 weeks

Hazel is 2 weeks old (yesterday)!

This week's most notable event was Mother's Day!  It was my 4th Mother's Day and my first as a mother of two!  We decided to go to church, and it was an experience getting us all dressed and out the door.

We were really late to church, but we made it just in time for Baby Dedication!

Hazel spent the rest of church sleeping and looking cute.

Hazel had her two week check up this week (at 11 days old), and she was almost back to her birth weight, but not quite.

She seems so little to me because she's a full pound lighter than Emery was at this point.

She hasn't been sleeping quite as well this week, but she's still eating well and looking cute!

Emery continues to be a great big sister!

She is always concerned about Hazel and gives her lots of kisses.

Whether she wants them or not!

She loves to "help" with pacifier retrieval and feeding.

And she was excited for a sister photo op, although Hazel didn't share her enthusiasm!

Have a great weekend!

1 Week

Hazel is 1 week old today!

This week has gone fast since we brought her home on Sunday!

I am really trying to take it all in since we plan on our family being complete, and I know how fast these sweet moments pass.

Our first week with Hazel has been wonderful.  She sleeps and eats well and only really gets upset when she's naked!

We got out of the house on Tuesday for Hazel's first doctor visit.

When we first brought Hazel home, Emery wasn't too sure about her and mostly kept her distance.  After a couple of days, she warmed up to her and now gives her kisses about 963 times a day!

Like I said, I'm trying to really soak up this stage, so that has included a lot of baby holding!  She loves to snuggle!

Since she doesn't have as much hair as Emery did, we are experimenting with accessories.  This particular headband was a fail!

We have a snazzy new double stroller, and today I felt up to taking a walk, so we tried it out for the first time.  Emery makes Hazel look tiny, and Hazel makes Emery look huge!

And of course I can't leave my big girl out.  She wore her finest Cinco de Mayo outfit to school on Monday and looked adorable!

Have a great Mother's Day weekend!!!

Teacher Appreciation

This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week.  Since my due date fell during this week, I planned ahead!

After browsing Pinterest, I decided on a cute potted plant craft.  I was pleased with how they turned out, and I hope her teachers liked them.

Welcome Sweet Hazel

We welcomed our second child, a sweet little girl, on Friday, May 2nd!

Hazel Grace made her entrance at 2:13 p.m. weighing 7 lbs. 5 oz. and 19 3/4 in. long.

We are overwhelmed with joy - she is an absolute angel.

We immediately looked to see if she resembled Emery, and she really did!  She was smaller with daintier features, and she has lighter hair (and less of it).  But there were times in the hospital where we felt like we were looking at newborn Emery.

She is looking less like Emery every day, so it will be interesting to see how much they end up resembling each other.

Big sister came to visit us in the hospital. She was a little scared of the hospital itself and unsure of the little creature she was there to see.  The hospital provided us with a "sibling cake" though, and she really enjoyed that part!

After 2 days in the hospital, I was SO ready to get home.  I missed Emery, and I was tired of being trapped!

I dressed little Hazel in the outfit I made her, and she just looked like a doll!

We are so happy to be home and are adjusting to our new life as a family of four!

Hazel

So...about that baby I should be having any time now!

We are so excited to meet Miss Hazel Grace!  She is due May 6th, so I have been frantically preparing for her arrival and trying to comprehend the idea of having two kids!

I have had an insane number of ultrasounds this time around due to some scares, so we were able to get some sneak peeks at our sweet babe.

This was around 24 weeks gestation, so I'm sure she has filled out quite a bit and will be oh so squishable!

Stay tuned to hear about her arrival...
