A Good Day

Have you ever reached the end of a day and just thought to yourself what a great day it was?  That's how I felt yesterday.  We didn't do anything super exciting - just had a lot of fun.

Daddy had the day off, so we started our morning with a trip to Shipley's for some donuts and kolaches.  Emery enjoyed both!

We then headed to a nearby church to tour their Mother's Day Out program.  We enrolled Emery for the fall!  What a big girl.  I am so nervous and excited at the same time!

After a quick trip to Home Depot (Daddy's idea, of course!), it was time to get home for Emery's morning nap.

After nap and lunch, we headed to Toys 'R' Us.  Emery had a gift card from her birthday, and we wanted to pick up some outdoor toys.  We also stopped by Stride Rite to get some shoes before their sale ended.  While we were at the mall, we let Emery try out her new kicks by the splash pad.

This kid loves water.

Later in the evening, we set up Emery's new water table and let her try it out.

She liked it, but she quickly decided she loved the garden hose more.

Did I mention she loves water?

She had the best time going back and forth through the water, and we had a lot of fun watching her.

Yeah.  It was a good day.

Pinterest Project: Easter Paint Chip Garland

Source: modernparentsmessykids.com via Heather on Pinterest

With Easter fast approaching, I hit up Pinterest for some decorating inspiration. Since I happen to be married to a paint salesman, paint chips are easy to come by, and this seemed like just the project for me!

Here is my version hanging from our makeshift mantle (sorry for the horrible lighting).

And a better view up close.

I used the directions and template from the link above, but I changed things up a bit to use materials I already had.  I only have a regular hole punch, so I punched holes on the sides of each egg and connected them with 3"x6" pieces of tulle.

I was happy with the outcome, and I'm already thinking about a festive 4th of July version!

The Dinosaur Park

We were in SM this weekend to get some portraits taken and visit with Grandma and Grandpa D.  The weather on Saturday was gorgeous, so we headed to Austin to visit The Dinosaur Park.

We weren't sure what to expect, but it was fun.  They have a walking trail with dinosaur replicas and a scavenger hunt.

Aaaah!  A baby T-Rex!!!

They also had a playground and a picnic area, so we stayed to play and eat lunch.

I think Emery was a satisfied customer!

Candid

I'm always trying to get pictures of Emery just doing whatever she's doing - candid shots.  But most of you probably already know that she likes to pose for the camera!

Lately, I've caught a few shots of her just being her, minus the cheesy grin.

I was going to throw out her birthday flowers, so I let her play with one in the yard.

Oh dear.  I can just picture her texting and rolling her eyes.

I'm not really sure what she was doing here, but she looked so peaceful, and I thought it was a good profile shot.

We had a good Spring Break, although it wasn't much different than a normal week for us!  It was nice to spend time at the zoo with some of our friends who had the week off.  Daddy couldn't believe we didn't take a single picture there!

On Saturday, we celebrated JP's first birthday!

It was hard to get a good picture of the kiddos, but don't they look cute in their Hawaiian outfits???

Of course, Emery had to "help" open JP's presents.  She also tested most of them to make sure they were up to her standards!

Emery is 13 months old as of last week.  She's about 31" tall and weighs about 23 lbs.  She has 12 teeth now, wears a size 4 diaper, and fits mostly in 18 month clothes (although I put her in a lot of 24 month stuff so she can wear it for awhile).

She looks more like a little girl and less like a baby each day.  Each new milestone is fun and exciting, but it just goes by too fast.  It makes me very glad I've kept up with this blog (for the most part), so that I can remember when she was a tiny little thing!

Well I'm making Chocolate Zucchini Bread, and the oven just beeped, so I guess that will have to be it!  Have a great week!

On the Go

Although Emery can't take more than 4 or 5 steps by herself, she always wants to be on the go.  Thank God for walkers!

She will walk and walk with this thing and never seems to get tired of it.

Other exciting things:

I shared my Oreo McFlurry with Emery.  She liked it.

Emery gets in to EVERYTHING.  But she looks cute doing it.

Emery is a great shopping partner!

Hope you are having a great week - especially those of you who are on Spring Break!

Spring has Sprung!

Ok, so it's technically not Spring yet.

And it's gloomy and cloudy today.

But it's been SO beautiful lately!  Here are some pictures of Emery next to some pretty flowers in our neighborhood.

She's perfected the art of posing!

Now she's working on her pageant wave!

I promise I'm not grooming her for Toddlers and Tiaras...

What's Going On

Here is a look at what's been going on since I stopped my weekly updates!

Hanging out with Daddy

Lunch Date with JP and his Mommy

Rides in her new wagon...

...and cozy coupe

Playtime outside when it's nice

Snuggles when teething is at it's worst

Brushing those 9 (soon to be 12) teeth

Lots of looking in the mirror.  She loves to talk to that baby and wave to her and give her lots of kisses!

Free Chick-Fil-A for Leap Day

A new big pink bow

The zoo

Last but not least, Emery took her first steps last week!  She usually only takes 1 or 2 at a time, but she has taken up to 4 at once.  Yay!

If you live around here, I hope you are taking advantage of this beautiful weather!
