32 Weeks

If you've read the blog long (or are friends with me on Facebook), you probably know that I take a lot of pictures of Emery.

She likes to have her picture taken (most of the time).  Sometimes she'll be doing something really cute, and as soon as I try to get a picture, she sits up and gives me a cheesy grin (see above picture).

Emery and I packed our bags and headed out for a Mommy-Daughter road trip to SM this week.  While we were there:

1.  E got some portraits taken by the lovely Laura Wootan of The Smile House.  Here are a couple of sneak preview shots.

2.  We went to a bridal shower for my long time friend, Becca.

It was great seeing Becca, and I can't wait to watch her marry the love of her life next weekend.

3.  We had a nice visit with Grandma and Grandpa D!

I'd tell you that E has been really fussy lately, but you probably won't believe me since she cheeses it up as soon as she sees the camera!

Someone needs her bangs trimmed!

Who, me?

I'm cute and I know it!

And I work it for the camera!

Have a great week!

31 Weeks

E is obsessed with these signs. I try to keep her entertained with toys, but she makes it her mission every week to attack the sign.

The biggest happening in our house this week was E turning 7 months old!

I made her a special tutu just for the occasion, and I think she looked adorable (as always)!

E is now officially a side sleeper, and always rolls to her tummy when she wakes up.  This is how I find her in the morning and after naps:

She still LOVES bath time, and I think we'll move her to a big girl tub pretty soon.

Although tooth number 3 made its appearance this week, E was still in good spirits most of the time.

She even dressed up for Mexican Independance Day!

Have a great week!

Baby Food: Peaches, Plums, Apples, and Butternut Squash

Yes - that's a lot in one post.  I'm grouping them together because:

1.  I'm WAY behind.
2.  I prepared all of them the same way.

I've also been horrible about taking pictures for the baby food blogs, so here is a very random smattering.

Squash ready to go in the oven:

Peaches in the oven:

A plum:

I didn't get any pictures of the apples, so you'll have to take my word for it.

I preheated the oven to 400 degrees, put the fruit (or squash) in a baking dish (cut side down) filled with about an inch of water, and baked until the skin buckled/cracked/pulled away from the flesh.

I peeled the skin off the squash and peaches, but pureed the plums and apples skin and all, and they turned out great.

Here is Emery's verdict on the peaches.

Shhh...don't tell, but I may or may not have been sneaking cubes of the frozen fruit.  They are so tasty to snack on!

7 Months

It can't possibly be time for another monthly post, but alas, the calendar tells me it is.

No doctor visit this month, but here are E's at-home measurements:

Height: about 28 inches
Weight: about 19 pounds

E stills takes four 7 oz. bottles a day, and she eats 2-3 solids meals.  She loves pretty much all fruits and veggies.  She's not sold on chicken, but beef went over pretty well.  She loves plain yogurt either by itself or mixed with anything!  We've started some finger foods like Baby Mum Mums and Gerber puffs, and she loves them but needs some help getting the puffs in her mouth.

Sleep is inconsistent.  Lately naps have been good (3 naps a day, most naps over an hour and even a few 2 hour naps).  Sometimes E sleeps through the night, but usually she wakes at least once.  I suspect teething is to blame!

She loves to scoot/roll all around the living room, and it looks like she's awfully close to crawling, but we're not there just yet.  Right now, she's in 9 month clothes but will probably move on to 12 month pretty soon.

Have I mentioned how fast all of this is going???

30 Weeks

My happy girl hasn't been so happy this week, so it was hard to get many good pictures.  She's been battling a snotty/runny nose almost all week.

And I'm pretty sure we have several teeth on their way in, so we broke out the mesh feeder and frozen applesauce to soothe the gums.

Of course we did get some smiles out of her.

And she's still pretty cute...runny nose and all!

Sorry the blog is a day late this week - hope your week is off to a great start!

A Day at the Park

The weather was beautiful today!  We took advantage of the cooler temperatures and met Miss Claire and JP for a picnic at the park.

E wasn't in the mood to pose for my pictures, but doesn't JP look adorable in his shades?

After lunch, we went for a walk around the park. E was done by this point!

I'm looking forward to more outings like this as the weather gets better.  We have been trapped inside all summer!

29 Weeks

Uh oh...looks like I'll have to get a little more creative with the sign placement!

I also liked this one because I think her facial expression shows her real opinion of taking these weekly pictures.  Don't worry, Emery.  Only 23 left to go!

We met with a specialist on Monday to discuss the flatness of E's head. We also had a scan done by an orthodist to get a better look at the shape.  The specialist has recommended we do about 4 months of helmet therapy, but she said it is purely cosmetic and up to us.  We aren't sure what we're going to do yet, but we have a few weeks to think about it while they try to get our insurance to cover it.

I've known the swing needed to be put away for some time now, but E still really likes it, so I've been holding off.  She's a smidge too big for it though!

This is how I found E the other day when I went to get her from her nap.  Though she started rolling back to front 3 months ago, until then, she had never done it in the crib!  I thought this new discovery might cost us some sleep, but she hasn't done it again.

I know it's probably a shock, but I'm into bows.  I think they are really cute, but they also help me keep E's wild hair somewhat under control.  I'm also cheap, and bows can get expensive.  If you need cheap bows, headbands, flower clips, etc., Hobby Lobby is the place to go!  The prices are reasonable to begin with, but they regularly put out 40% off coupons online and in the newspaper which make the bows a steal.

E had a playdate this week with her friend JP, and new friends, sweet Abby and little bitty Luke.  I'm glad I took a picture before we left because all the babies were tired and playtime ended shortly after it started!

These two pictures both show off E's teeth.  I'm pretty sure we have some more teeth working their way in, and I hope they hurry up!

I have some cute 9 month outfits with pants, so when the temperatures dipped into the 90s (haha), I took the opportunity to put her in one before she outgrows them.

Saturday night, we dropped E off at Grandma and Grandpa K's house and went to dinner at a fancy steak house.  It was nice to get out alone (it was our first dinner out without her), but we missed her!

We went out to lunch today after church and decided to put E in a restaurant high chair for the first time.  We've been nervous to try this out because she does so well in her carrier, but she'll be moving to a big girl car seat soon, so we have to get her used to it.  She did great, and the suction cup toy earned it's keep once again!

I'll leave you with a picture of the cutest baby booty in town.  Hope you all have a safe and happy Labor Day!
